My Wife is Blogging and Passed the NLE
My wife passed the November 2008 Nursing Board Exam and is now a Registered Nurse. The results were made known to us when she received a call from Ms. Precy Cadiz, Dean of the College of Nursing (Northern Christian College of Laoag City). We were actually on a vacation (not really, because I was actually doing some business during that “break”). I was not able to post some updates to my sites except for my Tech Blog, which is already handled by a team composed of my wife Jen, a niece, a computer engineer and a computer store owner – all of which are closest to my heart.
Blogging is time-consuming and it really requires a lot of energy. I even told my wife that I sometimes wanted to stop writing online. That’s the reason why she volunteered to do some writing for my sites when updates are needed. There are even times when she stays up until 5am while I rest for the following day’s lecture or work offline.
I wanted her to blog not because we are expecting some money from it. In fact we only make a few bucks out of this thing called blogging and making money online is not really our top priority although it helps us defray some expenses. It’s the joy of writing and expressing one’s self that got her into this. Likewise, I wanted her to improve her writing skills as she wasn’t really trained for that stuff. I am seeing some very good improvements in her skills now. She’s made a lot of progress because she can now blog on her own. Maybe someday she will become more active than me in this area. I hope not because I still want her to gain some work experience in the hospital before we proceed with our plan to get out of the country together in 2010 or early 2011. We actually have plans to work in the Middle East as a start (my wife as a Nurse and me as an employee in an IT department somewhere in the desert, hahaha!).
This plan is not final though. We also would like her to work as a nurse in either Canada or UK then maybe move to the mainland US. It’s pretty clear that we have to do something to earn more money and secure our family’s future. Nurses who work abroad earn more and that’s a fact. As for me, this will spell huge adjustments. I already have spent a huge amount of money on some properties here and I honestly have second thoughts on leaving the country.

“Nurses who work abroad earn more and that’s a fact” totoo nga yun, naku ang laki ng deperensya, sabi nga ng ate ko yung sweldo nya dati as head nurse, almost sweldo nya lang sa 1-2 araw depende sa OT, haha. Yun nga lang mataas ang cost of living sa UK, pero single nmn sya kaya okay lang.

Oo nga daw fren. Mataas din ang taxes sa UK but comparing everything here and there, I think nurses are still better off in the land of Ricky Hatton kay nga isa pa rin sa ultimate targets namin yun. It will not come easy but we hope to make it within 5 years.
