Common and Rare Aphrodisiacs for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is generally celebrated by lovers. As such, it’s inevitable that aphrodisiacs are sought before and during Valentine’s Day. You may or may not believe in the concept of aphrodisiacs and what it can do to spice up your love life and/or sex life but in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, here are some facts and trivias about aphrodisiacs. Please take note that the connotation of the phrase “rare aphrodisiacs” is aphrodisiacs that are hard to find or not very common to most people :

Aphrodisiac is any substance that arouses or increases sexual desire. The word aphrodisiac comes from Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love.

Sexual activity can be stimulated in humans and animals by drugs that affect the pituitary gland. Preparations commonly sold as aphrodisiacs can be dangerous or ineffective. Alcohol and “weed”, popularly thought to be effective aphrodisiacs because they lessen inhibition, often have the opposite effect.

Common/readily available aphrodisiacs are:

  • Coffee (which contains high antioxidants)
  • Chocolates (which gives a feeling of well-being, high-protein, high-energy food)
  • Seafoods (sea weeds, crabs, shrimps, lobsters, oysters)
  • Honey (high-energy food product where the word “honeymoon” was derived)
  • Onions
  • Red Wine
  • Ginseng
  • Ginkgo Biloba
  • Mandrake
  • Summer Savory and other herbs

Rare aphrodisiacs are:

  • Horn of black rhinoceros
  • Musk (deer musk is the most common)
  • Blister Beetle
  • Spanishfly

If you are a male and have erectile dysfunction, the possible solution to increase sexual prowess is through the use of medicines prescribed by a qualified physician.

So there, whether you believe in aphrodisiacs or not, the list of items given above are worth a try. Give your respective partners some love on Valentine’s Day – prepare for some romance and probably great sex. ;-)

    Chocolates are perhaps the most effective “aphrodisiac” because they stimulate the brain to produce chemicals that make you feel happy and/or elated. Hehehe! Effective ba sa yo?
