Salmonella Outbreak in the United States
The Salmonella outbreak in the United States of America seriously alerted their Food and Drug Administration. There is already a confirmation of Salmonella contamination in peanut butter and peanut paste products distributed by Peanut Corporation of America in mid-year 2008.
Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) makes bulk distributions of peanut butter and peanut paste products to various food industries. Food industries such as Kellogg’s Company and Perry’s Ice Cream are just some of the companies or corporations that use processed ingredients from PCA in their branded products.
The announcement of this incident had led America’s market to temporarily pull out a list of food products with processed peanut ingredients from the said corporation.
As of the second week of January 2009, the Salmonella contaminated food has already caused an outbreak of Salmonellosis recording above 400 cases of infection and 6 deaths upon ingestion of these bacteria.
The public is advised, be it in America or in other countries importing products that are listed, to be conscious on purchasing products that should be temporarily out of the market. Be alert in choosing the food you buy. For other types of food that can be contaminated by Salmonella, prepare your food properly. If possible, avoid raw and prematurely cooked food. Don’t just eat much. Eat smart! ![]()

I remember sa isang cruising boat last year, nagka-salmonella ang mga passengers dito. Kaya na-quarantine yung boat at nilinis nang mabuti.
