Wordpress 2.7 Upgrade: Observations and Comments
Like Marlene who recently upgraded to Wordpress 2.7, I did an upgrade to Wordpress 2.7 for testing purposes only. So far, so good but… I am not seeing any significant improvement after 2 weeks of upgrading from Wordpress 2.6.5 to 2.7. Let me break it down below:
Though the icons of Wordpress 2.7 look impressive, at first I was confused. It takes a little “getting used to” period to get the actual feel of the new Wordpress 2.7 dashboard and functions. In fact, at the back of mind, I regret having upgraded from 2.6.5 to 2.7. 
I have also observed that the loading of the dashboard from the Login Page is a bit slower than older Wordpress versions. If you want to load your Wordpress administration panel (and other pages), I suggest you enable Gears (Turbo) whose link can be located on top of your screen (right-hand side) between the “admin” and “logout” links.
In creating a new post, the default view is a three-column layout. When you are writing your content, the section where you are working on (Write Window) is smaller and sometimes annoying. At times, I can’t get the large photos in place (in Write View although after publishing the actualy layout of the Content is ok.
Despite the fact that the sections of the Wordpress 2.7 dashboard can be relocated practically anywhere on your screen, Wordpress 2.7 is confusing even for old-time Wordpress users.
I am also not comfortable using the Quickpress section in the dashboard because I cannot place tags and categories. The solution is to save the post as “draft” then edit it in another Window. This is somewhat wasting time in my view so I simply disabled Quickpress (uncheck it through the Screen Options). I’m not sure if the upcoming Wordpress 2.8 will include this feature in its Beta release.
I haven’t encountered an error in Wordpress 2.7 so far but in case you have, refer to my previous article “How to deal with Wordpress 2.7 Problems and Errors“. I have more observations to discuss but at this hour, my eyes are about to close. I might as well publish another article dealing with this subject next time.

Hehee! Bakit naman nag-regret? Pero ang last ko ay 2.6.3 kasi kaya di ko alam ang kaibahan nito sa 2.6.5. Hindi ko napansin ang kaliitan ng default view dahil siguro ay wide ang screen ko at nagiging wide din ito
.I agree, walang kwenta ang QuickPress kaya di ko ginagamit.
Isang beses ang tagal talaga nagbukas ng dashboard, kala ko sa connection ko lang. So far di pa naman naulit.

Honestly, on my part, Wordpress 2.7 is a bit slower. I just cannot rollback to Wordpress 2.6.5 because of time constraints. If I have enough time, I’d choose to rollback.

Alam mo Fren muntik na mawala tong site ko..ne reinstall ko kasi using Fastastico and then the file is 19.7 MB. I changed the limit to 10 and guess what almost two days kung inimport dipa rin makompleto..pag nag-import ba Fren dapat click mo rin download file and attachments? I tried to install without clicking the option and oh my di kumpleto ang na install na posts but it says done. Kihuna ko nalang ang mga latest posts sa google cache. Kakaloka, dami comments nawala at ibang old post wala na photos. What an experience!

I suggest you also backup your MySQL Database under PhPAdmin. You use that to re-install your Wordpress blog somewhere else. I mean if you are going to have your WP blog hosted with another server, make a backup of your DB then restore it under the new server.

Naku pareho tayo ng problema kapatid. Nababagalan ako sa 2.7. You know what i did? nagdown ako to 2.6.5 hahaha. Isa sa naging problema ko laging nawawala yung write post. I can’t find the answer. I don’t know kung nasabi ko sa yo yun. Pero ngayon ok na ako sa 2.6.5 dun muna ako.

Yeah, Wordpress 2.7 is somewhat slow. My test sites are sometimes crawling especially when the server is having some hiccups.

Naka WP 2.7 na rin ako sa bagong server at WP dito sa PC ko, wala pa naman akong napapansing problema except na mas maliit nga yung Write Window dahil 3 columns, sana may choice tayo na mas mapalakihan pa yun. Ang gusto ko naman doon, nakikita ko yung mga comments sa baba, di ko na kailangan pumunta sa comments page.
Di pa ako nakakalipat friend, binibitin nila pagpalit ng nameservers, nakakainis.

That’s one thing I don’t like about Worpdress 2.7 – the small Write Window. Sometimes I am misled because the alignment of images are not right although when you publish the article, the photos are ok. It’s a bit frustrating at times.

Yeah, I strongly recommend that you don’t upgrade to Wordpress 2.7 yet. Sometimes, it’s better to keep the old ones intact if they are still serving us well.
