Incidence and Prevention of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA)
Many people do not know that the incidences of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) in the United States and Philippines are high. In the US, an estimated 900 per day die of sudden cardiac arrest. Risk factors could include high blood pressure, high cholesterol level, cigarette smoking, stress and others. Symptoms of Sudden Cardiac Arrest include (but not limited to) sudden collapse, abnormal breathing, loss of consciousness, an inability to find a pulse and loss of blood pressure.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) occurs when the lower chambers of the heart, called ventricles, stop beating normally and start quivering very quickly and chaotic. If proper and immediate treatment like shocking the person who had a sudden cardiac arrest (with a defibrillator) is not given, death is most likely to occur.
Take care of your heart to avoid developing health problems like hypertension and sudden cardiac arrest. Eat fiber-rich foods like oat meal, wheat bread, green leafy vegetables and fruits (e.g., pineapple). Diet is the best line of defense against most diseases. Prevention is better than cure and a balanced diet can help a lot in preventing sudden cardiac arrest from happening.
