WordPress 2.6.1 Upgrade: New Features and Bug Fixes

My head is aching with the frequent updates of Wordpress (now version 2.6.1). Last month, I posted about the WordPress 2.6 Upgrade and Fixing Image Alignment Problems and Errors in WordPress 2.6. Now here comes WordPress 2.6.1 with the new features especially targeting international users.

According to the WordPress website,

Styling of the admin for right-to-left languages is much improved thanks to the efforts of the Farsi and Hebrew translation teams, and a mysterious gettext bug caused by certain PHP configurations is now fixed. For IIS users, 2.6.1 fixes several permalink problems. Image insertion problems in the Press This feature experienced by IE users are also fixed. Of note to everyone is a fix for a performance bug in the admin where those with a lot of plugins would experience slowness on some pages.

The WordPress developers allegedly fixed more than 60 bugs in the new WordPress 2.6.1 release. I hope WordPress 2.6.1 has successfully fixed image alignment and video alignment problems, which I have encountered in WordPress 2.6. Like I’ve said before, with the frequency of update, it’s not impossible to see an upgrade to WordPress 2.6.2, 2.6.3, 2.6.4 and so on until we reach WordPress 3.0 before the end of this year. :-(

Personally, I will not upgrade to WordPress 2.6.1. I’ve had enough trouble with version 2.6 and I think it’s time to wait for a WordPress release that is really stable, reliable, tested and approved by thousands. My blogging time was cut short by testing WordPress 2.6 and I got tired testing that release and have practically gained nothing. Some of my review jobs expired and I was not able to make money because of the series of tests I’ve conducted just to see if WordPress 2.6 worked or sucked. I found out myself that WordPress 2.6 had a lot of errors and maybe, jsut maybe, this new version of WordPress will address those errors/bugs in version 2.6. I know many people will once again say that WordPress 2.6.1 sucks in their future posts but let’s give the updated version of WordPress a chance. Unfortunately, I’m not willing to test it for free this time.
