Michael Phelps: His Breakfast and the Importance of Breakfast

Michael Phelps’s breakfast is five or more times that of a regular guy’s one-day food consumption. Reports on Michael Phelps’s diet reveal that the man’s diet is comparable to that of an overeater. His breakfast alone is more than many Filipinos’ or regular Americans’ diet in a single day. We’re talking about an Olympic diet here, folks.

A regular guy consumes about 2,000 calories per day. Michael Phelps devours 10,000 to 12,000 during competition. When he’s not competing, he still manges to ingest 8,000 to 10,000 calories everyday.

If you want a simple experiment, try this diet for breakfast and see if you can match Michael Phelps’s breakfast meals. Just remember that the following is a diet of an Olympics champion, a winner of 7 gold medals in the Beijing 2008 Olympics:

  • Three fried egg sandwiches with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, fried onions, and mayonnaise
  • A five-egg omelet
  • A bowl of grits
  • Three slices of French toast with powdered sugar
  • Three chocolate pancakes
  • Two cups of coffee

In addition, many people believe that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Michael Phelps must be a believer. His body requires a lot of energy to keep it in top shape and he obviously starts his day right by eating the right food stuff in the morning. In my case, I only take in 2 cups of coffee for breakfast. lol!

For Lunch, Michael Phelps’s diet include the following:

  • A pound of pasta with tomato sauce
  • Two large ham, cheese, and mayo sandwiches on white bread
  • Energy drinks

For Michael Phelps’s dinner,

  • A pound of pasta with tomato sauce
  • Six to eight pizza slices or simply one whole
  • Energy drinks
