MAAWA KANA!

It is very sad to hear that the Philippines did not even get any single medal in Beijing Olympic. Don't worry, this will happen again in the coming Olympics. Leave it to the corrupt Filipino politicians who does nothing but to bludge and slow down the Philippine economy. Most of these Philippine politicians ae only good in bickering and political propaganda. They are good at looking after themselves first, before the suffering Filipinos. For many years, these politicians have wasted the Filipino taxpayer's money for doing nothing. Hey, wake-up, do something for millions of starving, unemployed, dying, exploited Filipinos! Many of these Filipinos who dreamt of better Philippines have already died. Philippines is far left behind now in their neighboring Asian countries. Because these Asian countries, their politicians have come into realization that they should serve their country above all things. Unlike in the Philippines, politicians don't think globally. Most of their actions are very superficial, comparable to local TV drama-series wherein every episodes is all about conflict, problems, issues, blaming each other, instead of raising the issue of poverty, starvation, unemployments, mass exodus of Filipinos to work overseaes as cheap laborers, over-population and how to genuinely support the Philippine Athletes because Filipinos truly desearves not a big ZERO Medal in the Olympic Games, but a big celebration for acheiving many Gold medals. So please, Filipino Politicians, change your old ways and style-because it doesn't work for your country!!!!

Magaaral man o hindi. Magsasaka man o mangingisda...mayaman man o mahirap.

It is embarrassing to a country twice the size of Korea to have less competitors in the games than Korea has medals in only the first week of competition. The Philippines wastes all its money and efforts on sports it has no chance of even earning bids in, let alone competing for a medal. In this I refer to basketball and swimming. Boxing is another matter in that the good boxers all turn professional at an early age so they can feed their families. Amateur and professional boxing are 2 sports that look the same but are vastly different in training, scoring and philosophy. Manny Pacquiao could probably not win a medal in Olympic boxing unless he KOd his opponents in every fight. The country should concentrate efforts, money and training in sports small people can compete in without being at a distinct disadvantage. The smaller weight classes of wrestling, weightlifting and various martial arts are in mind here. Table tennis and badminton do not require large people to be competitive. Diving and gymnastics are sports tailor made for small people. When I think of Philippine basketball I am reminded that I read about a 6'4" "behemoth" playing for a major college team. That "behemoth" would most likely be the smallest player on the court in any major college game in the US, Canada, China, Australia, Argentina, Lithuania, Greece or Russia; not to mention any number of other countries who cannot earn berths in Olympic basketball. Korea is also a nation of relatively small people but they concentrate on sports they can win & are incredibly successful. There is much to be learned by all concerned in The Philippines when it comes to athletic competition on the world stage. I welcome any and all responses direct to my e-mail: gelynch52@yahoo.com
