A Motorcycle Accident and Its Impacts on My family
Motorcycle accidents (or vehicular accidents in general) have great impacts on families. Before you skip reading this (because this is an opp I cannot afford to pass on), let me share with you my family’s lowest point ever.
My mother died in a motorcycle accident back in 2001. She was the most beloved figure in the family. I admit I was a bit “Bondying” because even at age 25, we shared the same bed. It was funny my brother (youngest in the family, two years my junior) and I would quarrel on things like who should hug her during sleep ang whose leg should be on top of her belly. I always insisted on being the priority because I used to travel a lot that time (because of work) and because I am the “Kuya”.
Seven kids (and all existing grandchildren) were attached to the same person - the mother. That’s our family history. We were happy that way despite belonging to a poor family. She raised us well. She was my first teacher and she showed us how to make a clean and honest living. In the end, she did a good job.
Her precious life was claimed by a vehicular accident on June 10, 2001 (9 days before my birthday). It was a terrifying day and my eyes were sore and bulging for months my tear glands were not able to produce a single drop of tear for the longest time. Depression was the biggest impact of my mother’s death by vehicular accident. Everyone in the family was affected up to this writing that is why we do not talk about it or else we will all burst into tears for sure.
The saddest part of the whole incident was the case filed against the driver. We were helpless in pursuing the case because of financial difficulties. A motor accident lawyer is expensive and we cannot sustain the legal case. That’s one fo the reasons why I lost faith in the Philippine judicial system. I won’t go into details but if you’re a Filipino, I’m sure you can read between the lines.

i loved the fact how clingy you are even at a ripe age! i am proud of your mum with the way she were able to raise all of you with so much love and conviction. that’s wy you are what you are now.

Kuya, nakkalungkot naman nangayari sa mother mo. Oi alam mo I don’t like riding a motorbike talaga feel ko i’ll die na. I agree with you about the judicial system here in our country.. no more comment about it na lang, mahirap na..
