Typhoon Igme in Ilocos Norte: A Curse to Small Businessmen
After Typhoon Helen ravaged my home province, Ilocos Norte, Typhoon Igme followed shortly (after 10 days to be exact). These two typhoons really ruined my blog life. I haven’t updated my sites, answered comments, bloghop and make money.
For some quick facts about what Typhoon Igme had done to our province, please read on.
Tropical storm Igme left one person dead and another missing after it hit Ilocos Norte and Northern Luzon Monday. The fatality was identified as Loreto Vidad, 51, and a resident of Barangay Pragata in Pasuquin town. Jimmy Baila, 26, of Piddig town, meanwhile, was still missing as of posting time. Vidad drowned in a river while Baila went missing while crossing the river in Piddig. Meanwhile, Laoag City and the towns of Pagudpud, Piddig, Bangui, Bacarra, Solsona, Pasuquin remained underwater due to continuous rains. Officials have urged affected residents to move to higher ground. The Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council has yet to come up with figures on property and crop damage brought by the typhoon. The typhoon was the second to hit the province this July. On July 16, Typhoon Helen hit Ilocos Norte and left millions of pesos in damaged in infrastructure and agriculture.
You see, these things are not good for business (online and offline). Offline, I suspended our printing jobs indefinitely because of the rain (ink won’t dry fast and they will smudge because of moisture in the atmosphere). A quick fix like using a hair dryer is not advisable especially on paper products. Printouts will look ugly and the paper’s color and texture will change. On fiber, the ink will smudge and will be sticky because moisture is trapped inside the paint. Sun drying is the best but how can we manage to get the sun to shine on us if the rain keeps dropping like a barrage of arrows on the roof?
Online, I can’t earn extra cash from blogging. It’s a good thing Google Adsense makes me some money (just enough to buy some noodles during the rainy season). ![]()

Fren, di ko pa naisetup nang maayos yung site. I’m actually serious about it kaya I’m preparing the articles. I’m documenting the printing process as well as other processes. Mga small-to-medium businesses ang gusto kong tutukan dahil dun ako maraming karanasan. I hope maging regular reader ka nun pag nailagay ko na sa ayos ang lahat.
