Putting Up a Tech Blog

I’ve been busy yesterday the whole day with my printing business.  Just like my review assignments, some orders had to be rushed.  After work, I turned to tweaking my new tech blog (Technology Talks) which up to now has not been promoted or entered in social networks.  The domain name was puchased on the first week of this month and it took me two weeks later to attempt to put it in some shape.

Setting up a blog is not as easy as you think when you want to create a new brand.  I’ve realized that I must have messed up a bit with the types of articles I have posted in this site kudos to 3P’s and SR (and for the total $2,000 by the way). Ah-oww, let’s not go there. :-)

Using WordPress as a publishing tool is indeed very convenient despite WordPress’ weaknesses and imperfections. However, tasks involved in setting up a blog are really taxing.  The easiest part is perhaps installing WordPress. Uploading of themes and plugins using an FTP client like Filezilla takes time especially if the server timeout is short (usually 15 minutes) and the internet connection is not good. Editing the CSS file is also a matter of trial and error. Color selection alone requires time. Pasting javascript codes into template files can also be frustrating in the same way when some plugins don’t work. Theme selection is also crucial.  Some themes just can’t seem to fit into my concept.  But in view of themes, I always settle for the easiest to tweak and probably simplest in overall design.

And why on earth am I setting up a tech blog? The answer is simple - compartmentalized blogging.  I’ve always wanted to write some things about technology especially about computers.  I’ve had several years of research on troubleshooting computer problems and networking but I’ve only written a few about them in this site (which is perhaps something good).  My approach has changed regarding putting up a new site. This time, I said to myself, I’m going to publish articles in a site that will revolve around a general theme. Never mind this site. It has transformed into a mixed bag of ideas and I think I’d keep it that way (but still with more focus on Nursing, research, health and education).  I make money with this site through blog advertising and this will remain to be my main site for a long time unless something miraculous will happen in my other sites (say, some of them will start receving 10K hits per day. lol!)

If you intend to exchange links with that site, please state your intent by leaving your comment there. The website address is linked here: Technology Talks.  Let me know your thoughts on the design. Lastly, if you wish to suggest a topic or if you’re having trouble with your gadgets like your PC, then that would be just great. You may send your suggestion vial email.  I’ll see what I can do.  Topics I intend to focus on are web hosting, computer assembly and reviews of computer parts, networking, network troubleshooting, server troubleshooting, technology news, internet technology and mobile phones.

If you want to get updates on Nursing Researches, Nursing Board Exam Results, Nursing Articles, Nursing Education, Health and Health tips, and other informative articles in this site, please subscribe to my Free RSS feed. Thank you very much!

    Fren,

Mahirap din. Ang sa kin lang naman eh para mailagay ko ang mga articles sa mga dapat nilang kalagyan. Mahirap kung halu-halo ang articles sa iisang blog eh. Tutal kako enough naman ang know-how ko sa technology, I better put up a new tech blog. :-)

Sa totoo lang fren eh hilong hilo na ko kung ano ang mga topics na isusulat ko. lol!

About Brian’s themes, they’re nice pero kelangan pa rin ng konting tweaks especially with the stylesheet. Mahal yung mga premium themes nya so hindi ko rin madonwload. Ayokong gumastos sa themes. Bwahahahaha!
