Research Shows That Gay Men Have Brains Similar to Women

Here is a good topic for Nursing research. This is just a recommendation and the study does not apply to everyone and may not be conducted everywhere due to some constraints.

One of the Nursing researches I have handled in Ilocos Norte is on homosexuality. A group of undergraduate students asked me for a good topic in Nursing research and I suggested the said topic which passed the title defense. The topic grew and many Ilocanos got interested in determining the sexual habits and behaviors of gay men. In this part of the Philippines, topics like this one is considered sensitive — gender-sensitive, that is. Homosexuality and homosexual practices here are not as open as in other places (the premise). This warrants then the study of homosexuals. Later on, the research expanded and follow-up studies were conducted on a much wider scale and at institutes for higher learning – the graduate schools. Everything seemed fine but there were still shades of inhibition on the part of the subjects based on interview outcomes.

Corollary to this, recent studies in London shows that gay men and women share similar brains. This could also mean that they share the same inhibitions, urges and desires.

Reuters reported that gay men and straight women share some characteristics in the area of the brain responsible for emotion, mood and anxiety, researchers said in a study highlighting the potential biological underpinning of sexuality.

Brain scans also showed the same symmetry among lesbians and straight men, the researchers wrote in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

“The observations cannot be easily attributed to perception or behavior,” the researchers from Sweden’s Karolinska Institute wrote. “Whether they may relate to processes laid down during the fetal or postnatal development is an open question.”

In the field of Nursing research , there is still a need to expound homosexuality and sexuality because of cultural barriers to research. We have to note that most Asians are not as open about their feelings and desires as Americans or Europeans. Thus, further studies should be conducted along these lines to negate or strengthen the previous findings.

  1. Hmmm, this is pretty interesting, Kuya.
No offense meant to all homosexuals but the Bible prohibits homosexuality. Now I’m curious…
Since God owns our entire being, would that mean He was responsible for a person becoming a homosexual?
Kasi diba lagi nilang sinasabi di naman nila ginusto talaga na maging lesbian or gay, basta naramdaman nalang nila.
    Ano sa palagay mo Kuya?

    Ellaine,

In my view eh ok lang sa kin ang maging homosexual. Pero yung sabihing sabihing God is responsible for gays becoming gays is not appropriate. At least that’s just my view as a person. But as a resarecher, that is another variable worth considering in future studies – a homosexual’s perception of self.

    Joy,

Oo nga eh. ako kasi hindi naman issue sa kin ang homosexuality. It’s what some homosexuals do that matter. Many homosexuals are good guys actually. Pero marami rin ang hindi maganda ang habits at behavior.
