Blog Stress Hit Me Once Again

Yeah, right.  This (stress) is my problem as a blogger. First of all, my sites are one-author blogs.  The only author is me.  My wife isn’t a writer (and maybe she never will be).  For the past couple of days, my offline meetings with potential clients in web development have been so demanding.  Yesterday, my wife and I arrived at 12 midnight and I was dead tired again from a series of meeting with 3 groups of car sellers and auto shop owners here in Ilocos Norte.

In all honesty, I won’t earn as much in blogging as I would earn from the 3 groups in the long run but it could be worth it.  It’s been 2 months I haven’t had projects in developing websites, which was the reason I did a lot of blog advertising in May and June across 5 sites I author.

Blog stress is a term I coined in one of my previous articles because when I was new in the world of blogging, I had to learn how to promote my sites in social networks, connect with fellow bloggers and buid links for my site (this site, specifically).

Now that I am earning from blogging, it seems that I get stressed more frequently than before.  If I will evaluate myself, perhaps it’s a good thing to ask “Have I earned enough”? “Am I serving my real purpose/s in writing?” Maybe the answers are “yes” but the mind and body can only take so much.  At times I end up sleeping for more than 10 straight hours because of the stress I derive from my offline work and online tasks.

Blogging, as a profession, is a 24/7 workload.  In my case, a non-professional blogger, the activities involved in blogging even take their tolls on me.  It could be a good thing for me to take some short breaks from blogging once in a while (like what I did for the past few days) just to clear my head. Maybe you too should take a break every now and then.  If you’re not earning enough from blogging, maybe you rethink if it’s worth spending 8-12 hours a day. I’m not discouraging you. I’m just telling you to be practical.  Think about it. Will you sacrifice your offline job for blogging if you’re not earning half as much as your offline job? I certainly don’t think so (if you have an offline job).

  5. It’s really draining, Kuya, physically and mentally. I’d love to read relevant posts of other bloggers than utilizing most of my time catching opportunities… We certainly need a break from blogging at times and taking some time off online won’t hurt us.

    Ellaine,

Ako nga minsan eh pagod na pagod. Ok nga ang income pero sobrang pagod at puyat ka naman wala rin. Sometimes ang feeling ko eh di na ko makakain o makatulog dahil sa stress. This time around I will really try to manage my time better.
