Mood Swings, Writing Well and Making Money Online
This is my fourth post in this blog for this day alone. I’m making use of time wisely because I’m only renting a PC at an internet cafe (again). I can’t bloghop yet at the moment because of time constraints. I have asked in my other blog before the question “How Many Blogs Can You Maintain?” Maybe not too many if you are a busy guy (or girl). But lately I have noticed that my moods have something to do with the number of articles I can write in a day and, in essence, the number of blogs I can maintain.
Mood swings. That would be appropriate. If you’re not in the mood to write, you can’t force yourself to write. Statistics shows that most writers find it inappropriate to write when they are not in the right mood. When I say mood, it could connote two things - either they are happy or they are disgusted. It’s true. If you will only take some time to introspect, you will find out that the best moods for you to write is either when you’re happy or pissed. If you will only copy other people’s work and paste everything without editing it in your site, then no mood is really required. But if your article is original, I doubt if you can even finish constructing the first sentence if your heart and mind are not into it.
Writers need stimuli. Writers need inspiration. Whatever it is that drives you to write - money, need for update or time pressure (which is a good stimulus), you need to do it with your heart in it.
In terms of number, at one time I have written some 20 articles for my 5 blogs in a day. I needed to update my blogs and there were reviews that are about to expire. For some of the articles I wrote, I accomplished them out of compliance. For others, I really found the topics interesting. But guess what? I find more satisfaction in writing articles whose topics are really in line with my wide stretch of interests. There’s just this unspeakable delight when you know you’ve written something you really want and can be proud of - unlike when you were only assigned to do so.
How many articles can I write? That depends on my mood and other factors but usually more on my mood. Like I’ve said, I’ve tried posting 20 all-original articles between 200-500 words each. And that’s all in one freaking day. At that time, I really wished I didn’t have to do paid blogging anymore. I blog for money. I never denied that. But I also value the way people read and react to my write-ups. Sometimes, a simple “thumbs up” from a sincere reader brings much more rewarding feelings than a ten-dollar review. But maybe a hundred-dollar review could make me feel better than two thumbs up. lol!

Joy,
That’s the downside of paid blogging fren. It will really consume so much of our time writing quality articles to serve as fillers and personal posts.

Hi! Jessie! thanks for dropping by my site. You asked me if I am Ilocano. Yes I am. In fact, we got acquainted already through my other blog - HotMomma. I mentioned that I come from Cagayan province.
by the way, I am a writer as well and yes, mood is everything to me when I write. not only is the quantity of my output affected by my mood or state of mind or whatever you call it - even the quality of my writings also suffers or is enhanced because of it.
for one who is mood-dependent, i think you are still quite prolific because of the numerous blogs you maintain and the large following you have.
keep on posting! I enjoy visiting, promise.
bye!

Haha kuya, I like the last line. LOL But seriously, i wish i could do away from the paid blogging for a while and concentrate more on the quality of what I posts. That’s why, I started a new blog.
Well, I would still continue to monetize my other blogs but I will keep this one ad-free! (pero never say never hehe).
Most of the time, I also do things at the last minute, especially for the paid-bloggings. I need to feel the adrenaline rush before I start doing the write up. Kasi kita mo naman, hindi na ako choosy when it comes to the topic. basta may moolah! hehe

Me too. I hope in the near future I can get away from paid blogging although there’s some money in it. Sometimes, I think the opps are polluting my sites. That’s an honest remark.

Hay kuya, I’m back! I was forced into blogging leave by Frank and was I glad. My smartbro connection just got busted. Tsk tsk! If it weren’t for the handful of errands I had to do, I would have stormed to the nearest pldt office to apply for a dsl. I am still really hesitant b/c it might just be worse than this smartbro connection that we currently have. It was an unexpected but nevertheless a welcome break from blogging. Precisely because of some stuff you mentioned in this article. I sometimes find myself worn out-thus the mood swings and non-inspired posts. Sometimes I would just go through an opp just because, quality is just thrown out the window. But in time, you also acquire a level of expertise and creativity as you do opps on a regular basis. But I agree the inspiration have got to be present.
I so agree with you in all accounts. And about that one hundred dollar review against a two thumbs up, hmm that doesn’t sound bad at all.

eerm… i’m almost embarrassed to admit it but i have about 7 or 8 blogs right. my friend says i must be a sucker for punishment, but the truth i didn’t set out to do this. some of these blogs i started years and when the time comes to let go, i just can’t.
usually it’s not that hard for me to write about a topic but there are days when i get stumped. i haven’t done any paid blogging though (too busy at work; too stubborn to care), although i’ve inserted some ads in some of my sites.

Onyxx,
Thanks for dropping by. We suffer from the same dilemma. We may categorically call it “writer’s block”. Good for you you’re not into paid blogging. That means you won’t be forced to write if you don’t feel like it. That’s my goal in the near future - to stay away from a lot of paid blogging. However, right now I can’t do that yet.
