Meeting Friends Online in Friendster is Cool But Spams Are Not

Meeting friends online through social networks like Friendster, Myspace and Facebook is truly cool. In fact, I frequent my Friendster account every now and then but I don’t stay long. Recently, my login time is 5 minutes max just to check who viewed my profile and sent me messages through its messaging system.

This morning, I was again shocked to find out that another spam is lurking in Friendster accounts - video spams. Video spamming is the new way of spammers to get into your account via sending you a comment. If your comment is not moderated in Friendster and you have allowed everyone to post a comment in your account, then you’re in for a big surprise. The sender/s look like legit account holders (with some sexy pictures in their profiles) but mind you, the profiles are all set to PRIVATE and you can’t do anything to notify the sender. This means that they are bots. These are not humans. They are auto-generated codes designed to promote videos of sexy women dancing (or doing other things) right in your profile’s comment section which is supposed to be for your friends only.

So beware of this video spamming by social network spammers. They truly are too good to be true. Don’t be fooled. Report the spammer to the Friendster admin to remove the account and block the sender from ever receiving anything from that account again to avoid that bot from sending you another video spam.

  5. Kengkay,
