Worried About Fire Ants?
Have you ever been worried about or bothered by fire ants? For some lecture on lignuistics, fire ants in Tagalog are called “hantik” (I’m not sure if there are other variations) and in Ilocano they are called “buos“. These are very big ants with a stinging bite. The bitten part of the skin will actually swell for days.
If you want to know how to kill fireants, then be guided by http://www.controlfireants.com/. The site contains great info on how to deal with these insects. The site discusses facts about fire ants, general ways to exterminate them and more. The article could be very helpful if you are bothered by these insects.

Luckily, we don’t have fire ants in my neck of the woods…but we do get huge amounts of cicadas! They don’t bite (yay!) and do leave their exoskeletons on tree trunks. My kids love collecting them.

Barbara,
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Like your kids, mine also love collecting skeletons of cicadas and other insects. Maybe they find them fanciful and I just let them. They’re just kids anyway so I let them have their fun.
