Live Longer by Staying Happy
Reports on longevity indicate that people in Okinawa, Japan have the longest lifespan in the world. Women have an average lifespan of 86 while men have an average of 78 years. It’s true folks, women live longer than men (which is unfortunate for us guys. Research is on their side).
The lifestyle of people in Okinawa is generally low on stress. They even claimed that a combination of good diet, regular exercise and most importantly, staying “happy” by way of being with a community and friendly interaction with others are good for the health. According to GMA 7’s 24-Oras, of the 1.3 million residents in Okinawa, more than 700 are aged 100 and above - the highest incidence in the world of people one century old. Also, it was found out from a separate study that those who live in Okinawa experience lesser amount of stress compared with those living in dense urban communities like Tokyo.
Other researches in nursing in line with stress (there’s too many to enumerate) also back the theory that stress is linked to longevity. Happier people tend to live longer because the body of happy persons do not produce as much toxins as irritated and stressed ones, clinical studies show.
Now, if you want to live longer, bear in mind that you have to eat nutritious food, have a regular exercise (like walking daily), and stay happy by not worrying too much. As I have always been telling my students - “someday, your worries will kill you” (in time, of course).

It’s true that staying happy (in general) is conducive to long life.
I’ve also heard that the people of Okinawa use a form of calcium that is easiest to digest made from coral.
They also don’t suffer from bone problems in later years. Dave

Dave,
That’s true. It’s one of the many reason why their bodies are in great condition despite their ages.
