Shopping Can Be Addictive But Therapeutic
Do you go shopping online at Ebay, Amazon or any other online store? If not, then maybe you should try it sometimes.
When I started being active online, one of the many things that I prepared was an EON debit card from Unionbank of the Philippines. At first I got it readied for online purchases from Ebay and Amazon since I was thinking of buying a battery charger for my digital camera at that time. When I created an account with Ebay, my whole perspective about online shopping changed. While in real life, most women find shopping (or window shopping) addictive but therapeutic, online I find it the same. Before, my wife and I usually argue about shopping because I’m lazy to walk for hours looking at all the items in all places before finally buying something. That’s not just my style. When I have an item in mind, it only takes a few minutes to buy the item, often without further thoughts. Well, call it impulsive. And maybe I’m not the only one
There were a few times my wife yelled at me whenever I stay in front of the computer during weekends waiting for bidding on Ebay to end. I had so much fun trying to beat the highest bidder by a split second.
In searching for products online (usually electronic gadgets, being an geek myself) I stumbled upon stunning savings at Nordstrom.com, Macys.com, Bloomingdales.com, Kohls.com and other online department stores. While it’s true some of them do not send select electronic products directly to the Philippines which include laptops and other high-priced electronic toys for the big boys, I did some redirection through addressing the recipient of the items to a student in the US, after which she sent those items to me here in the Philippines. It was a bit more costly than the usual direct transaction but that was just ok. At least I got the items that I wanted.
I already purchased three electronic gadgets online – a battery charger for digital cameras, a battery charger for cars and a two-way radio with a range of 25 miles. Online shopping is fun when you have the money. If not, then it’s not advisable to spend on items like these especially now that life in the Philippines is not easy where unemployment is high and income levels for the masses are low.
On the other hand, I was able to curb my growing addiction to online shopping when I started blogging. I was able to stop for a great while surfing Ebay for what’s new and what’s hot. I just can’t stop thinking at times, particularly when I watch TV the things that I wanted to buy at the height of my shopping galore online – an LG LCD Monitor for my new computer, camcorders for myself and my wife (who loves toying with my digital camera exhausting its memory by recording videos on it), and an iPod (which I never got the chance to steal from a friend who arrived from Germany. Lol!)
All those electronic items that I fancy I intend to buy using my blogging money. Perhaps it will take a few more months up to a year before I can accomplish that. But I’m in no hurry. I just hope I can acquire all those before classes open in June (Philippine academic calendar) because some of my businesses in the local area involve photography and video editing.
As a piece of advice, if you’re going to shop online either within the Ebay network or elsewhere, just be thorough. Many times you will find the same items at much lower prices if you will only spend some more time browsing other buyers’ profile.
One of the sites that is worth browsing is 1-coupons.com which offers online buyers thousands of Internet coupons, discount codes, special promotions, promotional bargains and deals for popular online stores. Check them out if you’re into online shopping and get better deals for your hard-earned dough.

hay kuya..i admire your ppp blogging..nice style–very creative and kinda subtle(hindi obvious na ppp). Anyway, ano nga uli ang nofollow??
[Reply]
RJ,
When a link is tagged as NOFOLLOW, search engine will not index or crawl that link. This is ok if the body of your post is on nofollow if your doing paid blogging simply because when G (you know who) determines that you’re being paid for the links, then your PR might be in trouble. However, even if the body of your post has nofollow links, that will still count to the Technorati link of the site being mentioned. Dito sa site ko ganun eh, but the links in your comments are all on DOFOLLOW. You get a credit from the search engines from commenting here.
[Reply]
if that’s the case how do you determine whether its dofollow or nofolow?is there a way of determining it?

jps61974 reply on March 2nd, 2008:
Right-click on the link then click Properties. Kung naka NoFollow yung link, it will appear there in the popup window as either “external nofollow” or simply “nofollow”. IF not, then naka-dofollow yung link.

Kuya, thanks for sharing with me the info about EON card. I can get the card in 5 days. My boyfriend shops at Ebay and said products and services are good. I tried looking at their products and there really are many choices. No need to take long walks now in the malls. As for me, I can’t stand long walks coz my feet sores. Anong sakit ba yan? hehehe.
BTW, how much is this offer worth Kuya? Balato naman diyan, bwahahahaha!

well, i do shop at ebay but i prefer more on shopping sa mall. Ang convinience lang sa Ebay is “no sweat”, all you nedd is click and get ready your credit card. And sa Ebay meron silang mga rare items na pede kang mag bid or direct buy na agad.
But i still enjoy going sa mall and window shopping kahit d’ maraming pera…ahehhehe.

Fren,
Naku, pare-pareho tlga kayong mga babae. Mahilig maglakwatsa. hahahaha! Don’t worry, fren. I do most of my shopping online talaga.

Try mo fren online shopping. Mejo matagal nga lang dahil 30 days mong hihintayin yung item. Sometimes mas matagal pa.

You sound credible - for a male endorsing shopping, I mean. I thought only women are convincing enough to trumpet the merits of shopping. Now I know better - and to think that you got paid for doing so. Not bad, really.
Question:can’t your Math questions get any easier? He he he!

Hehe, me and hubby are crazy about purchasing online. From DVD films to computer gadgets. I even purchased clothes but i will not do it again, pinagsisihan ko lang.
[Reply]
jps61974 reply on March 5th, 2008:

I haven’t tried online shopping kuya as i’m afraid na ma addict ako. But I think it doesn’t make any difference if it’s online shopping or not kasi i’m a shopaholic eh. But I honestly prefer going to the mall “physical shopping” mas therapeutic for me, aside from lakwatsa, you get to exercise pa *wink, tsaka shopping is more fun if you do it with your friends.
Isa ka talagang henyo kuya when it comes to ppp. naks!
