Blogging for Fun and Enjoyment
Blogging as we know it is becoming increasingly popular especially among those with an inclination to writing.
Whether a blogger wishes to express his feelings or opinions, document his experiences or simply want to make money, blogging can be both fun and enjoyable.
However, the road to a successful blog is not an easy one. Many bloggers out there will agree to me that monetizing a blog or enticing internet users to read their blog posts does not come easy. Content is always king. People must have some reasons to stay and go back to your sites, and content (texts, graphics, video or music) determines it all.
The good thing about blogging is almost everyone can do it. It knows no age, color, religion or personal interests. Everybody can just post articles. The only question is, will some people get interested to read them?
I have had the rare opportunity to get in touch and made friends with some good bloggers whose blog I find very interesting. Some of them are listed in my blogroll.
As to software, I use WordPress for its ease-of-use and customizability. My blogs are self-hosted. I tried Blogger once and I find it equally great. However, the limitation with Blogger is that, some features are lost when you want to host your own blog somewhere else. With WordPress, the free account and the self-hosted account are practically the same except that for some web servers, the UPLOAD function is restricted. I have had some experiences uploading files using the file upload function but to no avail.
But let’s not get too technical about it. You see, a blog post (like this one) is a means for some folks to unwind and relax. I don’t know about you but for me, blogging is the internet’s best feature these days. Everybody can be a writer and information can reach more people with more ease than ever before. The only downside is, at times, I find it hard to focus and concentrate on writing. Hence, in some occasions, writing a single post took me days to finish. Whew!
I just hope more people can be more responsible bloggers. I have read blog posts that are abusive and discriminating. Let’s keep the planet clean, people. Let no harm come to others by us. Let’s start with our blogs, if that’s not too much to ask. We can still co-exist harmoniously without lambasting others through our forums. Let’s keep blogging like what many find it – fun and enjoyable.
